Chaela is a ballet dancer, student and part-time model from Cambridge. I’ve always wanted to create an image of a ballet dancer tying on her shoes.

Signatures Dance Show Publicity Design
Having taken photos of several dance silhouettes, I was able to put together the poster and flyer designs for this year’s CUCDW dance show at the ADC Theatre in Cambridge.

Snow Photoshoot with Jenny
Inspired by my last photoshoot in the snow (and at 3000m altitude!), I wanted to take some more photos in the snow that the UK has recently been covered in. A quick email later, and one of my previous muses, Jenny, was standing in the snow braving the cold, all for the sake of creating great photos. The resulting favourites show that it was worth it!
Snow Photoshoot at 3000m
On a recent ski trip, I found a couple of models who weren’t afraid of stripping off a few layers, all for the sake of an interesting photoshoot…
Dance Photos in another Cambridge Agenda Magazine
Having graced the cover of last month’s Cambridgeshire Agenda magazine, my publicity photos for the forthcoming 800th anniversary Cambridge dance show featured again, this time in Cambridgeshire’s Style magazine.
You can view more images from the two shoots (photoshoot 1, photoshoot 2, image used for flyer/poster, final composite image), or download a copy of the article in PDF format.
Photoshoot with Laura
I’d taken acting headshots for Laura back in May, and we met up again to get some fashion photos. This shoot included a couple of things that I’d wanted to do for a while: photograph a model wearing satin/silk; reliably use two flash/umbrellas (wireless triggers just haven’t been reliable enough to date); use coloured gels to light up a black backdrop, providing subtle gradients of colour in the background.
All of these have contributed to a great set of photos, but none more than having such a beautiful model.
Dance Photo on Cover of Cambridge Agenda Magazine
Several images from my recent publicity photoshoots with the Cambridge Contemporary Dance company have been used in a magazine article about the forthcoming Senate House show, and one of the most striking images was selected as the cover image for this month’s issue of Cambridgeshire Agenda.

Dance show publicity photoshoot
I’ve been photographing and designing the publicity for Cambridge’s largest dance show for several years now, and was again asked to create some images for the forthcoming CUCDW dance show at the ADC theatre in January 2010.
The three producers of the show are all great dancers, so modelled for the publicity photos. I’d wanted to photograph them for a while, and wasn’t disappointed in the results.
Given the show’s title “Signatures”, we had an idea of capturing silhouettes of signature moves from various dance styles. The following is the main image chosen for the publicity.
This main image (and others from this shoot) were combined for the final poster design . Of course I’m not one to waste an opportunity to photograph such beautiful and talented dancers, so here are a few more photos taken during the rest of the shoot.
Photoshoot with Beth
At Oi Va Voi’s recent gig at the Cambridge Junction, I noticed someone at the front of the audience (well, I couldn’t help but notice her, I kept passing her as I moved around taking photos of the band). I was taken by her striking figure (slim and 5′ 11”), English Rose looks, all juxtaposed with her large, but elegant, shoulder tattoo. We spoke afterwards, arranged a photoshoot, and here are the results. While it was only her first shoot, some of the shots came out really well, and I’m proud to add them to my portfolio.
I’m always looking for models to create more artistic figure studies, so if you’re interested, get in touch.
