Commissioned Photos for New Hall College

I’ve been commissioned by New Hall College to take photographs of college life for their new prospectus, and these are some of the photos that they selected. In their selection were also photos from the New Hall Garden Party. The college has just received a large donation, and is changing its name to Murray Edwards College.

Dawn & Bill's Wedding Rehearsal in King's Chapel

My friend Dawn, with whom I danced in the Offbeat Team, is getting married in King’s Chapel tomorrow. Her fiancé was baptised there, and went to King’s School, so is allowed to get married in the fantastic venue. For someone who’s been in Cambridge for almost 10 years, I’m ashamed to say that this was the first time I’ve been inside King’s Chapel. Perhaps I was waiting for the right moment, and being asked to photograph a good friend’s wedding seemed to be the perfect occasion.

The chaplain, Reverend Richard Morgan, was a very nice chap (obviously habituated to speaking in the resonating acoustics of the Chapel), and delivered the news that I was expecting – no flash photography near Rubens’ “Adoration of the Magi”; but also no photography during the service (“it’s not Hello Magazine”). I wouldn’t want to disturb the proceedings with my shutter clicks resonating through the service, and it’s rather dark in the chapel anyway. We’ll see what I can get tomorrow…

Colour & Form – Antoni Gaudi

Two more Colour & Form collages, showing the brilliant designs and architecture of Antoni Gaudi, and La Boqueria, the covered market off Las Ramblas.

Colour & Form – Barcelona

A recent work-holiday to Barcelona, my third visit to the city, provided me with an opportunity to photograph Antoni Gaudi’s wondrous architecture, and many of the photographs lend themselves to my Colour & Form project.

London's South Bank

I was at the Waterloo IMAX for a conference hosted by my company, and during the lunch break, had a wander out to Waterloo Bridge and the South Bank.

360 Degree Panorama of Cambridge in the snow

Well, it took 2 weeks to get round to finishing off the photo-stitch – it was a tough one, took several attempts, lots of manual tweaking, and it’s still not quite perfect, but good enough! There were 36 photos, and the final cropped panorama weighs in at 56 megapixels.

You can scroll around the panorama in the Java Applet linked below. You can drag the view around with your mouse, or use your keyboard’s arrow keys. Pressing – or + lets you zoom out or in, although the images are displayed at 1:1 resolution already.
