After some stunning acro rock’n’roll photos at sunset of Barny & Jenny, we decided to take a few more photos on the St. John’s Backs.
Having been commissioned to take photographs of the CU Fashion Show Launch Party for lead-sponsor Grand Arcade’s PR, I also covered the fashion show itself, held at the Corn Exchange. There were various ranges of design themes, interlude performances of hip-hop and breakdancing, and a competition for pupils to design a dress made only of orange Sainsbury’s carrier bags. The finale was the revealing of a Grand Arcade dress, made of recycled Grand Arcade publicity.
The May Week Dance show, by Cambridge Contemporary Dance, performed under the Wren Library in Trinity College.
This show took place towards the end of May Week, and I was pretty tired from lots of all-nighters. Unusually for me, I turned up to the performance a few minutes before it started and just took photos on auto-pilot; so I was very pleasant surprised to see how well they came out. Again, LightRoom really helped turn good photos into great photos.

After an individual photoshoot with Emily in Homerton’s Drawing Room, her friend Hayley (one of my muses) joined in for the second half of the photoshoot.
I really love so many of these photos, mostly because Emily and Hayley look incredible, but partly because I’ve started using Adobe Lightroom to process my photos.

Emily is a graduating student from Homerton College, studying English & Drama. She has acted and sung in many plays and musicals in Cambridge. She’s yet another friend of my muses Hayley and Rebecca, and I invited her for a photoshoot as I saw great potential in her. Hayley joined her for the second part of the photoshoot, in Homerton’s Drawing Room.

I’ve been commissioned by New Hall College to take photographs of college life for their new prospectus, with a particular request for photos of their Suicide Sunday garden party, “Junglebeats”. Ents at the event included face-painting, a samba band, and the funk band Bijoumiyo.

Hayley is a friend of one of my favourite muses, Rebecca, and had previously asked me to take her acting headshot for drama school applications.
As Hayley was graduating this week, we decided to have another photoshoot before she left, and these are some of my favourite photos. The shoot was in the lovely grounds of Homerton College, but the time-constraints of busy May Week meant it had to be in the middle of the afternoon, and the sun was high and harsh. The use of off-camera flash helped quite a lot, and for some of the later photos I used my white shoot-through umbrellas as large diffusers for the sunlight, casting great soft light on Hayley’s face.

I’d wanted to take a sport portrait of Erica since I photographed her winning Cuppers High Jump last year. This is my first photoshoot with off-camera flash, and I’m pretty pleased with the results – having a great model meant the photos would be good regardless!
