The morning after the Canada Day celebrations in Trafalgar Square, I had a client meeting in London’s Angel Building, so I stayed in town and checked out the Dance in Focus exhibition...
My second shoot with Tamrin, for all of the reasons that I stated last time, she’s just a great model to photograph! As the weather was so sunny, we headed out to some nearby lakes to...

Cambridge Ballerina Project ...3
This was the fourth Cambridge Ballerina Project shoot in a week, all queued up waiting for the weather to improve. Zoe was also in this year’s show, and has a twin sister Gabrielle visiting from New Zealand. Both are equally well-trained ballet dancers, so a twin shoot presented great opportunities for symmetric poses. See the rest of the photos from this shoot...Read More
Yi Yi is another dancer new to the Cambridge University Ballet Club, whose abilities shone in the show this year. As with Ana‘s shoot, the weather and exams prevented our shooting together until the day before she left Cambridge for the summer. Luckily, after weeks of rain and cold, the weather suddenly warmed up, so we arranged a dawn shoot so we could shoot in town without...Read More
Kizzie is the new president of the Cambridge University Ballet Club, and while that doesn’t automatically lead to a Cambridge Ballerina Project shoot (Lara, Hanna and Helen have all been on the committee), Kizzie did shine in this year’s show. She’s a student at Robinson College, one which I had not yet photographed for the Project, and it is almost entirely made...Read More
I noticed Ana at the barre during a ballet class taken by Glory, and was keen to arrange a shoot with her. Weather and availability conspired against us, so we ended up having to shoot on the day before Ana’s last exam, in windy overcast conditions. Not that you’d notice from Ana’s composure. See the rest of the photos from this shoot...Read More
My second shoot with Tamrin, for all of the reasons that I stated last time, she’s just a great model to photograph! As the weather was so sunny, we headed out to some nearby lakes to catch the golden light of magic hour. More...Read More
I photographed Claire in the very first shoot of the Cambridge Ballerina Project two years ago. After months of cold and rain, the Summer finally reached Cambridge, so it’s fitting that Claire was the first shoot of this summer too. See more shoots from the Cambridge Ballerina Project on...Read More
I first met Amber at an open studio day, where we had a short shoot together. Since then, she’s been shooting lots more, and getting more impressive results, so she was keen to come back for a proper...Read More
Lara is president of the CU Ballet club this year, and produced the annual ballet show, Cinderella. As she is a student at Girton college, it was an obvious choice of location for our shoot. More...Read More
In a relatively rare event, Venus and Jupiter were both very visible and close to each other in the evening sky, with the Moon passing between them. Cambridge was blessed with clear skies throughout this period, so I was able to photograph the progress of the Moon relative to the two planets, across three nights. Venus is above Jupiter in these photos, which were taken at Castle...Read More
A second photoshoot with Suzie, this year’s lead dancer in the Cambridge University Ballet show. The weather was surprisingly warm and sunny given the cold winter, so we headed out to a bright urban location, Cambridge’s new West Cambridge...Read More
