I was playing piano yesterday afternoon, in front of my balcony window, and spotted an unexpected listener on the balcony. I’ve occasionally seen cats wandering across the (1st floor) balcony, but not taking a nap there…

Garden Wildlife in Macro
I purchased a new macro-adapter for my camera, so headed out into my parents’ garden to try it out. It may not have the sharpness of a dedicated macro lens, but for £5, it’s definitely a great way of getting even more practice after my first forays with damselflies a few weeks ago.
Alex and André's Wedding
After the wedding preparations, Alex and André got married at Buckland Tout-Saints, a luxury country-house hotel. The hotel grounds made for some lovely photos of the bridal couple. Having photographed many weddings and bridal couples, I have to say there was a very clear natural intimacy and relaxed feel between Alex and André, which shows in the following photos.
The dinner and dancing was held at Buckland House, in Slapton, Devon.
Alex's Wedding Preparations
I was invited to photograph Alex and André’s wedding in Devon, and they and the whole family were most welcoming and helpful. The room used for the bride’s preparations was bright and cleanly-decorated, the ideal location for natural photos.
As Tyra Banks would say on ANTM, “Fierce!”

Slapton Sands, Devon
I was in Devon for 3 days, covering a wedding, and the Bed & Breakfast where I was accommodated was only 10 minutes’ walk from the beach, the famous Slapton Sands. So in the hour I had before I was picked up for the wedding preparations, I took a leisurely stroll down to the beach and took a few photos. Here are two of my favourites.
Cambridge Inter-Faith Programme – Headshots
I was commissioned to take new headshots for the team at the Cambridge Inter-Faith Programme. The director was keen to get some photos at the front of the Divinity School, as the entrance doors are decorated with writings in various faiths’ scripts.
Light Matter – Final Composite Image
At the end of the second CCD photoshoot, I took turns with each dancer to get shots of them leaping in different poses and places, with the idea of putting together a specific image that I had in mind. I was hoping to play on two meanings of the word “Light”, in the dance show’s title.
Firstly, the dancers are depicted as light things, as they float in mid-air.
Secondly, I thought of a prism splitting white light into its constituent spectrum colours.
As always, I’m indebted to my dancer muses for providing me with the opportunity (and their talents) to create more works of art that I can be proud of.
Photoshoot with Jenny
After the second Cambridge Contemporary Dance photoshoot at the Senate House, I went with one if the dancers into Trinity College for a photoshoot. I’d photographed a CCD dance show, Impressions, in the first location (the columns under the Wren Library), so knew that it would be a great location for some photos.
I love photographing dancers as models, as they have such graceful control and understanding of their bodies.
Light Matter Publicity
From the two photoshoots with the Cambridge Contemporary Dance company dancers, this image was chosen for their poster and flyer, promoting their December show to celebrate Cambridge University’s 800th anniversary. The alcoves are on the west side of the Senate House, and made for ideal frames for the dancers.
